Hood's Line of March
Hood's two brigades departed Road to Daniel Rent's Farm (today Dahlgren Road), crossed the Old National Pike, and passed through an Apple Orchard, the trees growing among large boulders. They moved southwest and began to form a line of battle east of the large "S" in Moser Road. Their movement was within the sight of Confederate BG Ripley who was at the Crest of the Heights on Moser Road.
